School Leaver Cashless Balance Flyer

For students wishing to use the Dining Hall we operate a “cashless biometric fingerprint” system.   Each student has an individual account which will need to be kept in credit by parent/carer.  A recommended daily spending limit of £3.50 is applied to all students.  If you wish to change this amount please advise the Dining Hall.

For students on free meal entitlement the value of their meal will go onto the individuals fingerprint each day.  Students can also add money to their account via Parentpay, if the student exceeds the free meal value the extra amount will be deducted from the money credited to the account.

To credit your child’s account you can do this via Parentpay

To request a login, please email Andrea Hollingsworth on aho@swanwickhall.derbyshire.sch.uk and this will be sent to you.

Could your child be eligible for free school meals?

In these difficult financial times, we want to make sure you’re getting all the help you’re due.  A lot of people don’t claim free school meals even though they’re entitled.

You could save £400 a year for each child and your children could benefit from a good hot meal at lunchtime.

You don’t need to worry about other children knowing your child gets free school meals. Only the school and catering staff will know.

If you get any of these benefits, you could be eligible:

  • Universal Credit, provided you have an annual net earned income not exceeding £7,400 (£616.67 per month)
  • Income Support
  • Income based Job Seekers Allowance
  • Income related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum At 1999
  • The guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit  (provided you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190) as assessed by HMRC
  • Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)

Universal Credit has begun to be rolled out in Derbyshire and will affect all areas of Derbyshire by the end of 2018. Most families will not be affected by the new criteria. Families who are currently claiming free school meals, but fail to meet the new criteria, will continue to receive free school meals until the end of the Universal Credit rollout period, even if they continue to appear as no longer eligible on future reports. The rollout period is currently scheduled to end in March 2022.

Once Universal Credit is fully rolled out, pupils will keep their free school meal entitlement until the end of their current phase of education, that is, primary or secondary.

To apply go to www.derbyshire.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals and fill in the form.

Additional Funding for Schools

The school will benefit too? they’ll get the pupil premium of £1000 a year from the government for each child on free school meals. Even if your child does not want their free school meal, the additional funding it attracts can benefit them in other ways. For example Pupil Premium funding can be used to subsidise college trips, provide extra resources and employ more staff to help our students.

After Easter we're offering extra PE for Year 7. If you'd like to join, please go and change in the sports hall after period 5. Please note, there are no school buses when sessions finish at 4:20 so students are responsible for making their own way home. We hope to see you there!

I would like to thank all TTCT staff for their hard work this term, thank our wonderful students for their positivity and families for their support. We are one team The Two Counties team. #ambition #teamwork #honesty.
