Enactus – Next Generation Leaders Project made their first visit to Rowthornes Care in Swanwick on Friday 7th February. Students and residents enjoyed getting to know each other, played a selection of games and planned future activities.
The students will be visiting Holly Bank House in Oakerthorpe next month.
These visits are all part of the project to ‘Tackle Social Isolation’ in Swanwick.
Year 12 students Stephanie Hayes and Eleanor Cross have been successful in their application to attend the’ Lessons From Auschwitz ‘ course. Eight Year 12 students applied to the course which involved explaining why they should be chosen, how they would benefit and what they would do with the information gained.
Stephanie and Eleanor will attend the unique four part course with other students from the East Midlands. The course consists of two seminars learning about pre-war Jewish life and meeting a Holocaust survivor, a one day visit to Poland to visit Auschwitz and a community task to share their experience with others.
Our annual Sixth Form Dinner will take place at Eastwood Hall on Friday 10th July. Students can enjoy a formal 3 course dinner followed by a disco.
Year 12 student Zoe Green is raising money to travel to Ghana with her local football team Notts County Football in the Community. During her visit with African Adventure Zoe will help to improve local communities.
Every Wednesday lunch time Zoe will be selling a variety of sweet and savory snacks in the school quad. Money raised will go towards funding the Ghana trip.
1/3 Important message for parents – your child needs a face mask in school. From Monday 2nd November, students will be required to wear face masks in special areas. These spaces include corridors and dining hall queues.
