Football Celebrations!

Year 11 played in the County cup round 1 fixture against Tibshelf and won 3-1 (scorers Morgan Boyle, Jude Thompson and Rowan Kelly). Man of the Match went to George Scarfe. They will play Belper in the 2nd round.

Year 7 finished 2nd in their Amber Valley Tournament played in January.  They took part in their next round last night; won 3 games and drew one.  Amazing performances by all of the team – well done!



The Year 10 Basketball team competed in the Amber Valley tournament in January and all played really well.  Well done to Jevon Selby, Charles Cross, Matthew Denton, Owen Langton, Reilly Allen, Alex Taylor.

Girls in Sport

Derby County Community Trust have been working with girls from Year 7 to 9 since September on the GO Lead programme where they have been completing a course to become sports leaders in a variety of sports. They have also been leading their own sessions on a sport of their choice and delivered it to the group.  Well done to Kayleigh Brown, Ella Walker, Libby Vardy, Hannah Wheatley, Sophie Bower, Arya Beresford, Chloe Skelton, Charlotte Howarth, Megan Joyce and Stacey Maskery.

Keep on Running

The Derbyshire Cross Country County Championships took place at Shipley Park on 18th January.  Tom Eason, Year 9, came 4th overall qualifying for the next round to represent Derbyshire; Martha Seargent, Year 9, finished 9th and is 1st reserve for the next round. Adam Knights, Year 13, finished 6th and also qualified for the Derbyshire team.

Other students who represented Amber Valley from Swanwick were Megan Joyce, Tom Seargent, Dan Pepper.


Ice Skating Champions!

Congratulations to Abi Wibberley from Year 7 who competed with her team, Ice Gems, in the British Synchronised Ice Skating Championships 2020 (Britannia Cup) at Nottingham Motorpoint Arena at the weekend.  The team won Gold and retained their GB status with a massive 9 point difference between Gold and Silver place.

Well done to Abi and her team and we look forward to hearing more about your progress.
